Welcome, Lovely

I’m Nikki McCahon

I’m a matrescence educator, women’s life cycle guide and host of the Dear Mama podcast.

Becoming a mother leaves no woman as it found her. It unravels and rebuilds her. It cracks her open, takes her to her edges. It’s both beautiful and brutal, often at the same time. This transformation has a name; matrescence.

If you’re new to the concept of matrescence, you’re not alone. It’s an emerging discipline that captures the physical, psychological, social and emotional changes women go through during the monumental transformation that motherhood evokes.

My journey with matrescence and initiation into this work was painful, joyful, challenging and disorientating. Whilst it didn’t feel like it at the time, it was the making of me. Over the past five years I have supported over 70,000 womens motherhood journeys. I created my work as a soft landing place for you to explore your own transformation.

My work includes my top iTunes podcast, a series of considered online courses, group coaching, teacher training and an event program of intimate women’s circles and workshops.

In this episode I share my favourite tips for managing tough days, because as mamas, they are going to happen and it helps to have some tools in our tough day toolbox.

S1 E12: TIPS FOR SURVIVING HARD DAYS

  • “I had been struggling really badly with anxiety due to a number of reasons but particularly with my return to work happening and two little ones at home.Thankyou for being so warm and welcoming throughout this journey. I have really enjoyed the journaling day by day, sitting still, reflecting and being at one with myself. I have learned ALOT in five days about myself and I am truly grateful for your compassion and guidance”

    HALEY, JOURNALING CHALLENGE

  • “I am feeling validated, heard and seen and feeling like you are all “my people”! While I have seen counsellors/ psychologists on and off for the last 10 years of so I am finding that the content and exercises are making me reach into places I haven't previously and learn things about myself that explain so much about why I react in certain ways and struggle with certain things”

  • “I am feeling incredibly grateful to have found you Nikki and to be doing this course. My perspective is starting to shift - for the better. I started the course feeling angry, resentful, sad and lost. I can feel those emotions melting away. I am beginning to realise my strengths. I am looking forward rather than grieving the past”

Rituals For Mums

Morning or evening rituals can be transformational. Embedding practices of reflection and self-tending into the rhythm or your day can provide a sense of stability and consistency during times of change and transition.
